Cardimap is a judicious combination of herbs which have been recommended in
the Ayurvedic system of medicine for reducing hypertension, anxiety, tension,
insomnia, significantly without in any way affecting the day to day cycle of the
patient.
It contains the well knows anti-hypertension/anxiolytic drugs like:
- Sarpagandha Rauwolfia serpentine)
- Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi)
- Shankhpushpi (Convolvulus pluricautis)
- Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri)
- Pippali (piper longum).
Sarpagandha in Ayurveda has been considered a powerful vata shamak
(vata pacifying) drug. In high blood pressure without atheromatous changes in
the vessels, this drug has been found very satisfactory.
Jatamansi further enhances the anti hypertensive and anxiolytic
actions of Sarpagandha. The essential oils contained in it have been found to
cause pronounced hypotensive activity for several hours. It is also effective in
cardiac arrythmias.
Shankhapushpi is a Medhya Rasayan and is claimed to be nutritive for
brain, relaxant and anticonvulsive. It brings down levels of anxiety
quantitatively besides subjective relief in anxiety neurosis.
Brahmi also is categorized as a Medhya Rasayan and in clinical
studies has been found to be cardiotonic, sedative and neuromuscular blocking
agent. On analysis of behaviour under Brahmi it was observed that it offers mild
tranquillizing and reserpine potentiator actions.
Pippali promotes digestive functions and also possesses
hepatoprotective properties. Its incorporation in the formulation of Cardimap
ensures better assimilation of other ingredients.
Thus Cardimap lowers hypertension through synergistic effects of Sarpagandha
and Jatamasi: Medhya Rasayans Shankhpushpi and Brahmi provide adequate
adaptogenesis by their anti-stress properties and pippali in addition to being
hepatoprotective helps in better assimilation of other primary ingredients.
